How Are You Keeping Your Kids Entertained? HELP!

HELP! how on earth are you guys keeping your kids entertained? I know home is the safest place for our children right now and I wouldn’t wish them to be anywhere else, but JEEZ, it is TOUGH!

I have a 2 year old, 5 year old and a 10 year old at home and as my husband is a key worker in the police force I am at home alone to be their teacher, entertainer, cooker, cleaner you name it.

I am trying to draw up a routine timetable for the kids to try my best to make them feel like there is structure to all of this madness. During my 2 year olds morning nap I will ensure the older kids can sit down and concentrate on the more challenging parts of study. Then the rest I am just winging it to be honest through educational play.

I follow the montesseri method when it comes to my youngest and have done since she was a little baby. Our rule of thumb in the house is that every toy has to have some kind of task, if it has batteries it doesn’t come in the house. Battery toys are all well good at first but my children get so bored of them once they’re over them flashing and playing sounds at them. Toys with tasks keep them entertained for so much longer and makes them feel satisfied when completed! Plus it’s great for their motor skills 🙂

I would love to hear your tips on fun games to play with the kids and how you are educating your kids through play.

I hope everyone is staying safe out there and sane in lockdown. Sending all my love <3

We love pinterest at the moment! So many great ideas to do all free to and most things you would have on hand. Search on pinterest ” carboard box projects” and see how many fab ideas come up. We also love bake we bake something everyday my kids love to help in the kitchen. Any sort of water play keep my kids entertained for a long period off time, try washing toys with the kids sponges, soap, water and a towel and see how long you get out of this activity. Also sand play with kitchen utensils is a massive hit give it a try!

My 1 year old loves her little sensory table that i got her from ikea. As said above, i will put some toys in one sensory container and in the other i will fill with water and sponges and toothbrushes for her to wash her toys. You can also make the toys dirty for added effect!

were doing a lot of online courses with our kids at the mo, Joe Wicks PE is fantastic and all proceeds are going to the nhs! Our school are doing zoom meetings/lessons too with the kids which are really helpful.
